THE ASCENT OF MON; the descent of authority

Our ability to reason and spirituality are evolving. So rather than the Original Sin concept of "falling" from grace (justice and harmony), we are erratically but continually rising to it. Our rapid scientific progress has given us the ability to destroy the earth, but our social interactions are stuck in the past.

We must outgrow and overcome our superstitious reverence for the fiction of coercive, fraudulent authorities; these constraining institutions have been holding us back. We have the ability NOW to dramatically improve world communications and contacts among individuals and societies. It's an exciting transformation: a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.

            Albert Einstein

"A thought that sometimes makes me hazy: Am I--or are the others--crazy?"

            Carlos Castaneda     DON JUAN    1971

"Once a man SEES, he finds himself alone in a world with folly."

            Carl Sagan

"As long as there have been humans, we have searched for our place in the cosmos. Where are we? Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe. We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers."

It seems like the humon race is making good progress: we don't burn people at the stake for their ideas anymore. There is more knowledge, education, communication, material wealth and health. But progress compared to what? As planets go, we may be the retards of the system. Greater cosmic minds may check in on us occasionally and wonder, "When are they ever going to get their act together?"

Or maybe we're just a junior high school science project from another reality, that on a scale of 1 to 10, scores 2.3 or worse.

We can do better than this.
